HIV/AIDS: Breakthrough

A new gene has been discovered that STOPS HIV from breaking out of the cell and, thus, unable to create new virii.

Two major implications for this:

1) It could help stop the transmission of HIV from person-to-person.

2) It could slow down the speed at which HIV progresses into AIDS.

The news article is here.

Also found this, by the way, which reminds me of what a lot HIV+ people have told me -- being diagnosed actually changed their life... for the better? (IE -- it forced them to change their behavior. I am not, however, suggesting HIV infection as an interventional method, btw)
