On February 5, a terrible bill was filed in the State Senate that would prohibit adoption or foster parenting by any individual "cohabiting with a sexual partner outside of a marriage that is legally valid in Kentucky." This mean-spirited bill (SB 68) is aimed directly at the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and must be stopped. We talked about this last night -- the whole gay adoption thing and the sinfully ugly man known as State Senator Gary Tapp. The Fairness Alliance is organizing a rally and lobby day on the 25th:
This bill works against the best interest of children who deserve loving homes. The state of Kentucky should not deny qualified applicants when there are over 7,000 children in need of permanent homes.
