First, business. New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, appointed to fill Hillary Clinton's seat, has decided to pull an amendment to the defense bill -- the same one with the Matthew Shepard Act -- that would put a stay on discharges from the military based on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." She decided that the Senate did not have the necessary 60 votes to end a filibuster. So many things wrong with the thing, including the question of whether we really need to overcome a filibuster every time to get anything done anymore. Remember, it only takes 51 votes to pass, not 60. Meanwhile, Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) and Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-PA) have promised to propose legislation to end the discriminatory policy. No word on when though.
And, second, you know all how much I love beefcake. Well, the 2010 New York Firemen calendar has come out for purchase. Though, for the most part, it is an experiment in the thought that "men in groups look better than a man alone," it's still quite tasty to look through. Thanks to Queerty for the full photo set and the below video of the making of...
Joe.My.God. points out, astutely, that it's labeled the FDNY calendar -- not the NYFD calendar as in past years after a 2008 model was found performing in Guys Gone Wild video (link -- NSFW) with his massive schlong. The department pulled its support for the calendar soon after.
In honor of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince -- which I've promised to see with my mother next weekend -- thought I'd brought to you a delicious little piece of man-candy known as Freddie Stroma, an upcoming British actor/model who plays Cormac McLaggen in the latest flick. Thanks to Towleroad for the heads up on the boy, and for the video of him dancing in his underwear below :-).
The Twitterverse is always so up on True Blood, the vampire TV show that Twilight should have been. I have never seen it. But, after these pictures of Ryan Kwanten and Mehcad Brooks came out on the omg blog, I may have to check it out. Click on the pictures above for the NSFW pictures. Seriously -- NSFW.
And this week's fabulous beautiful men blogger -- check out V-M-P, Vintage Male Physique, which seeks out images from the "golden age of gay erotica." My first gay erotica was a book of black and white physique pictures that I took from my employer -- the library. :-) Check it out. It may not be our perfect A&F models you typically see on WWW, but it's totally worth it.
I am only giving you a little bit of a sneak preview today, but I am warning you that this link is completely NSFW. Josh Duhamel -- all around hunk -- recently posed nude and the link will take you to pretty pictures of him with both full frontal and full rear nudity. Click at your will. I just thought you'd like to see. :-) Have a nice day, all.
As for your hot website of the week, I think we might have to go with the site that brings us this website: Outrate.net's Eye Candy blog. Yet another, whenever-I-feel-like posting site of beautiful men, usually NSFW.
Again, you have been warned and I am not at fault if you decide to click on those links when it's inappropriate...
...like, say, at work.
Do it at home. You'll have more time to enjoy it then, too.
Yea! Wearing What Wednesday is back -- the last post was June 10th, if you can believe it. See, there's this new hot-and-botheredness growing over Ryan Reynolds because he's partially naked in his new movie, The Proposal. And apparently he had some recent cover shoot which brought all the boys to the yard because of his sheer gorgeousness.
And can I say that I have been a huge fan of the man ever since Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place. I certainly never watched that sitcom for his acting. And now since he looks like this:
But Mr. Reynolds is not shy in front of the camera, as per this scene from Buying the Cow:
Which is really the whole reason I posted this blog this morning. But, for your hot blog of the week? You have to admit it (otherwise, I'm calling you a liar) that you've had a crush on a hot cartoon or superhero at some point in your life.
Thank god there's the Shirtless Superheroes blog to remind us just how hot and how dirty that makes us all feel. :-) That's Peter Parker in the picture, btw.
And to my readers who love the hairy types: I recommend LifeLube's WOOF WEDNESDAY's. Trust.
Because I know all of you check in on a daily basis to check out the amazing and classic photography of great individuals who view the male body as a work of art... This week, I wanted to highlight a couple of amazing photogs of the masculine form:
Scott Hoover -- That's his picture to your right. His work tends toward the commercial; you will probably recognize some of the images from advertisements, or you will recognize the theme of a lot of them as having been in other advertisements.
Kristopher Kelly -- Kelly is much more sexual in his work, and far more editorial than commercial. In fact, when you go to look at his "feature" page, you get a disclaimer telling you that there are no full nudes... but there are some that skirt the level of appropriateness for a work setting. In short: NSFW.
John Gress -- Very commercial work. Almost all of his shots would be appropriate for clothing advertisements (I think that's where everything comes from). A lot of homoeroticism involved, and, of course, quite a bit of sexuality (if you can call the "lifting the bottom of my shirt shy-boy look true "sexuality"). Of course, full back nudity has nothing to do with clothing and quite a bit to do with sexuality.
Fred Goudon -- Probably my favorite of all these listed. Extremely hot men pictured in amazing poses and with great looks. I don't even know how to describe, so I'll just give you a picture to describe for me:
These are, of course, thanks to our friends over at Just Beautiful Men who have an ongoing list of great photographers for you to check out. And your shameless objectification of the male body blog of the day:
Gay Body Blog. Posts a couple of time a month, the author has this to say about his work: "Gay Body Blog is a blog that celebrates male beauty and all of its parts. Geared towards the gay man, this blog will explore what makes us guys work so hard to get that perfect body, and what also allows us to sit back and enjoy the view." And, boy, do we thank you for taking the time to give us such -- ahem -- excellent views like thus:
I'm trying to think if I have anything else to say to you today about pretty boys. Hrm. Oh, right, let's turn our attention over to Wolfie at Back2Stonewall.com to admits to his love affair with Spencer Pratt from The Hills, who (apparently) recently turned down a role as a gay porn star with legendary producer Michael Lucas. I am not familiar with the show, but Wolfie gives us a great slideshow that makes me wonder what a Pratt porn would be like... something I'd probably watch, of course.
Thsi will be the second man named Jensen for Wearing What Wednesday. Just trivia. Noah's Ark was a sad excuse at a dramedy -- it was poorly written and poorly acted -- but I own it :-), and I'm endeared to it (at least the first season). I've not watched Dante's Cove. And it's not just because Mr. Atwood is a gorgeous example of man-hood.
And don't think I wouldn't leave you without a great website to check-out this week to -- ahem -- check out more boys to drool over. (Somedays, I wonder if Wearing What Wednesday is undermining my credibility -- then I don't care.) Meet5-Star Men, which serves no purpose and has no other reason to exist except to do near-daily beautiful men spreads. From their spread on Edilson Nascimento (yea, I don't know who he is either):
I should rename this to "unabashedly objectifying men Wednesday."
In my ongoing laziness, I am slowly revealing the former source of a lot of my previous Wearing What Wednesday's by linking you to the blogs that have provided fodder.... and some fabulous pictures of lovely men. I think we're moving to this kind of post with the WEARING WHAT WEDNESDAY because there are so many sites out there that do it so much better than I do.
It is exactly as it sounds -- a beautiful young man every day. They claim to talk about "noteworthy men," but I've never heard of 90% of the people they profile, and some of them don't even have profiles. So... yea. :-) Today's Hunk du Jour, pictured to your right, is Adam Bouska.
Yea, I'm not sure either, but he sure is nice to look at, ain't he? Oh, and you can vote on the next day's man, which is a neat little feature.
AfterElton released yesterday the results of their poll of topp 100 hottest men as chosen by GBQ men. Who tops the list?
1. Neil Patrick Harris
2. John Barrowman
3. Luke MacFarlane
4. Jake Gyllenhaal
5. Jensen Ackles
Actually, no real surprises on the list, though I think I'm a little intrigued by NPH at the top. This year, though, After Elton added three new options to vote on. The winners in the category are:
Plenty of eye candy for you folks this morning. Each list is worth a glance over, with a few surprises (Barack Obama makes it onto one of the lists!), but mostly just pretty boys to drool over.
I'm going to be a little lazy this week, too, and introduce you to one of my guiltiest pleasures -- Just Beautiful Men.
The blog is like a daily version of Wearing What Wednesday and posts everything from contemporary stars, to up-and-comers, to models, to "classic" pictures, like the one from David Vance to your right.
Anyways, it's someplace to go when you're in need of some male objectification beauty. It's always fresh and always fun.
And, actually, check out David Vance's website. He does some amazing work that's filled with beauty and magic. Totally worth your time.
I'm really excited about the re-imagination of the Star Trek series coming out, but mostly because the actor who plays James T. Kirk is, well, gorgeous.
True, I'm being lazy these days, but I haven't had a chance to work on my big gay WWW yet. I promise next week -- promise.
In the meantime...
I give you the website Models.com's Top 50 Male Models. That's 50 amazing men for you to peruse through and click and check on other projects they have done. I have no doubt that you will all forgive me about halfway through this spread for my recent laziness.
Above is number 36, Kerry Degman. Imagine number 1 (actually, I think Mr. Degman is the hottest, but whatever :-))
So I have been working on a really big WEARING WHAT WEDNESDAY (along with the help of @Dr_Jared), but, considering this and next week are finals, I just haven't had the time to finish it up.
From Michael Phelps on magazine covers in swimming gear and a ballsy David Beckham for Emporio Armani underwear to athletes dropping it all for AIDS and cancer charity, the male body is being excessively exploited these days.
Outcries of sexism towards females by the advertising agencies, media and fashion photographers are becoming outdated and irrelevant when we see the same thing happening to men.
You can’t call it sexism anymore if it is happening to both sexes. Excessive sexvertising, nudevertising and a bit of exploitation of the bodies of young models? Yes, maybe. But not sexism.
And, so yea. Click on the the photostream at the bottom of the article so that you, too, can objectify the male body. :-)
This is them most gratuitously wonderful site in the world -- NSFW. Enter Guys With iPhones where guys take pictures of themselves on their iPhones and then post them.
@Dr_Jared (and his blog) and I were texting this evening and we were trying to find a good hottie for this week to drool over. Eventually, I kind of settled on "the Men of Twilight" (you know, the movie), and then I found the new love of my life... meet Cam Gigandet (from Twilight):
A hard bodied, blonde twink with tattoos? Yes, ma'am.
