...get excited about a fast food chain opening up in an area that can be called definitely Cincinnati...

Not this blogger. You've probably noticed that I didn't even mention it on the blog. I've argued, since the moment I heard a Chipotle was opening, that Habanero should have gone in there. There is ONE local restaurant on Fountain Square. ONE. And that is such a freaking shame.
I never mentioned you, and I'm glad you didn't mention it. I would have marginally lost respect -- though it's hard, considering how much respect I have for you :-).
But you're 100% right. It's disappointing.
I know you didn't. I just wanted to establish that fact. :)
I got giddy about Chipotle on the Square, but I've never cared that much about the locavore movement. (The only exception is awards at Taste of Cincinnati, which I would want Chipotle to win, either.)
The truth is, though, that tourists LIKE to go to corporate restaurants. I remember being with a group of friends who went to DC a few years ago, and couldn't convince the group that there was no reason to go to Hard Rock. (Or Rock Bottom on a more recent trip to San Diego.) Our society has become Wonder Bread-ized--people like the familiar.
(FWIW: When I'm visiting another city, I like to find local cuisine--but usually expect I'll have to get away from the tourist-y areas to do it.)
