CCV -- at it again, the bitches

Via Back2Stonewall.com ... I'm really getting tired of other local bloggers posting better stuff than me :-). HA! Seriously though... stop it. Just kidding.

The Equal Housing and Employment Act, in all likelihood, will be reintroduced this year and it looks like the CCV has already begun the fight against basic equal rights for LGBT people in the state of Ohio. You know, I'm getting really tired of this freaking group. Seriously, I am.

From their Action Alert:
EHEA: Deceptive and dangerous!

It has been deceptively titled the “Equal Housing & Employment Act.”

EHEA for short.

Anti-family leaders in the Ohio Legislature have promised to make passage of EHEA a priority in 2009.

Do not be misled by that deceptive title! In reality, EHEA is not about equality at all. It is about inequality, discrimination and special advantages. Inequality and discrimination against employers, property owners and all Ohioans ho hold to traditional Judeo-Christian values regarding human sexuality, and special advantages for a select few persons who identify themselves by their “sexual orientation” or “gender identity expression.”

Just how dangerous is this bill? Consider a few of its inevitable consequences:

· Employers will be coerced into establishing quotas for those who identify themselves as homosexual, bisexual or transgendered.

· In their hiring practices, churches will be required to prove that they do not discriminate against persons whose lifestyles are contrary to church beliefs.

· Students who believe that homosexual behaviors are contrary to Biblical teaching would be forced to remain silent or risk being criticized, ostracized and penalized.

And the list goes on.
This is getting frustrating. Seriously.

On our side, meanwhile, none of the major LGBT rights organizations -- including JoinTheImpact-Columbus and/or IMPACTCincinnati -- have any stated plans to deal with EHEA this year. At least, I can't find anything on their websites. Theoretically, the protest last week dealt with the issue, but I think the message got lost in the media somewhere.

But I could be missing it.

Part of the problem we face face with the CCV and Hate groups like Focus On Family and the AFA is that they are VERY PROACTIVE in their HATE. They are CONSTANTLY sending Newsletters and Action Alerts to rile thier members and also to gain funds for their coffers.

They are miles ahead of building their websites and keeping them updated than we are. I mean PLEASE if Equality Ohio can spend so much money to move into nice digs by the State House they can pay a couple of hundred a week for someone to maintain thier website and keep it updated. I am availble btw Equality Ohio.)

WE REALLY DO NEED TO BE MORE PROACTIVE AND AGRESSIVE. Thats where we drop the ball.

As for what Equality Cincy and Ohio is doing? I haven;t a clue and you can't tell by thier websites. Althought I have emailed BOTH asking for their 2009 Action Plans. Just waiting to see if they ever respond.

EHEA is on Equality Ohio's agenda for the Spring... but perhaps more important is that an all inclusive ENDA is looking to be passed around March or April on a federal level.

Thnaks Cameron!

You knwo i think that you are coler than sliced bread! And you do so much and are such a PLUS to the GLBT Community in Cincinnati.

But...it woule be nice if Equality Ohio and Equality Cincinnati would be more forth coming in what they are exactly doing NOW and in the Future and make it comon knowledge.

BOTH EHEA and ENDA are important.

But for organizations to say well EHEA is on the agenda for Spring and to hear it througha 3rd person and not from them is just really bad organizational skills.

My other issue is for the fact that whilwe it may be on the Agenda for Spring. (What xactly that that mean in detail btw.) Groups like CVC are ALREADY plotting against it and gather support and money to back them up. And what are we doing? Waiting for SPRING?

Groups like the CVC have a VERY BASIC Mission. To stop all attempts at us getting our rights and fight against us.

Ours should be just as simple. To do EVERYTHING we can to GET OUR RIGHTS and do everything that we can to get them and counter groups like the CVC.

We concentrate on 2-3 Irons in the fire and they concventrate on ALL of them and move at a moments notice. We put things on Agnedas and wait till Spring and then don;t act until its too late.

We SO NEED to be MORE PROACTIVE NOW.

And groups like Equlaity Cincy and Equality Ohio are going to be our leaders they need to do so much more outreach and activism in the Gay Community. they just can't update theier websites every few months and hold meeting behind closed doors and let a certain few know whats going on until right before it happens.

I mean do they or actually anyone out there ever go to the sites like the CVC and see how they operate and what they are doing right now at this minute to fight us? The lies and spin they use. the fear? Part of our battle should be combating that and countering it on a daily basis.

There really needs to be more ACTIVE Community outreach and updates.

I don;t even know what Equality Cincinnati does?

Cameron has been spending a little time with Equality Ohio. Let me reaffirm my point, though, with Equality Ohio:

It may be that they are doing stuff, my problem is that they never say what they are doing, and they certainly don't ask us for help except when they need money.

Someone comes out and they ask, "How can I change the world?"

And the best people can usually answer is, "Give money to the professionals."

Oh I know. And I applaud cameron for all the work he does.

I think what blew my fuse the most is that they raise all this money to move into new offices and can't even keep their website updated. I looks like it hasn't been updated since last November.

Theres no calls to actions. No Action Plan. No Agenda. No Contact Form. No Political Contact Info. No Group Listings. No Sponsors. No News. No Upcoming Events.

Oh but there is a DONATE Tab.

It really shouldn;t be an organization where they reach out and talk to and inform a select few. (No offense Cam)

And don;t even get me started on Equality Cincy.
