COOL SUMMER

Many thanks to everyone who came out for Cool Summer: Our House to Yours! We had a great crowd and raised about $800 for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Cincinnati, though I forgot to take any pictures! :-) That will help off set the stay of a family at the House for 36 days!

Many thanks to my partners in crime, Julie of WineMeDineMeCincinnati.com, Katy of KatesRandomMusings.com, Monika and Shannan of CincinnatiWomenBloggers.com. Also, many thanks to Below Zero Lounge for being such a fabulous host, and thanks to Lancome for setting up and doing free makeup consultations! And, of course, thanks to M2B Designs for her amazing graphic!

I think by the end of the night the overall reaction was: success!

Also, congratulations to the Ensemble Theatre Company and STOP AIDS for a hugely successful Big Hair Bingo, with pictures brought to you by Cincinnati NAMjA!

Of course, after the party and the time at Blue Bar with Cincinnati Guerrilla Queer Bar, I found myself sick with god knows what... so much so that I just woke up about an hour ago. Sigh. We're going to chalk it up to the relief from stress.

Equality Ohio Fundraiser

Equality Ohio hosted a little fundraiser at Below Zero this evening, and I had the distinct pleasure of hanging with my dears Erin Upchurch (of Equality Ohio), Cameron Tolle (of Impact Cincinnati), and Rusty Lockett (of Church of our Savior and the Gay and Lesbian Community Center), all pictured above. I did the single most shocking thing you would ever expect from me ... that is, gasp, signed up to be an Equality Ohio member. (Yes, Lynne, it's true.) Thanks to Erin we have a mini update on the Equal Housing and Employment Act (EHEA -- HB176), which would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression in Ohio.

The Ohio legislature is on recess right now, but we have received assurances that there will be a vote before this session ends. As it stands, we've not had a lot of leadership emerge in the Ohio Senate on the issue, so there is a lot of lobbying to do over there, too. Law in Ohio, though, seems to read that the House can pass a bill this session and then go to the Senate next session, so we don't have to start the process over again. Equality Ohio is asking people to continue to contact their State Representatives throughout the summer to keep the pressure on them until a vote comes up in late September or early October. For information on how to contact your local representative, go here.

Other events of note this weekend:
Hope to see you out this weekend folks!

CincyPride 2010 + Apologies

Been busy these last two days with nothing of value. HA! But, before I headed off to work for the night, it was made official today that the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Greater Cincinnati will no longer be organizing Cincinnati Pride (as announced here) and has passed the torch onto the Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber recently had huge success organizing EQUINOX to rave reviews. I wonder what it will be like for them, organizing two huge events within a month of each other?

From the Rainbow Cincinnati post:
This afternoon, Bill Abney, President of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Greater Cincinnati announced that the organization will not organize Pride 2010.

The announcement came at the Pride Appreciation volunteer party hosted by the Community Center and the Bar Monet of Willard Street in Covington, KY.

Concurrent with this news, Nigel Cotterill, President of the Greater Cincinnati Gay Chamber of Commerce says his organization will organize the event for Cincinnati in 2010. Their Vice President, George Crawford will have charge of the event. George was chair of the successful Equinox celebration held just last weekend.

Nigel Cotterill will be forwarding a "release" of additional details in the next few days.

The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Greater Cincinnati had been the organizer for the past five years.
Also: don't forget the Cincinnati Drag Races tomorrow on Main Street, or next week's COOL SUMMER Cocktail Hour for Ronald McDonald House on Friday the 17th from 7p-10p at Below Zero Lounge.

Cincinnati Drag Races

A mainstay of Cincinnati's Pride calendar returns -- the Cincinnati Drag Races! After the raucous success of last year's event, held in conjunction with the popular and ever growing Second Sunday on Main festival, the two parties teamed up and will be hosting this year's races on Main Street on July 12th from 2pm-5pm.

Thanks to Nigel from Below Zero, here's a bit about this year:

Second Sunday is Open 12 – 5 p.m. in historic Over-the-Rhine on Main Street between 13th and Liberty. The event is free and open to the public.

“Drag your Dog OUT” please drag you dog out in fun attire

Drag Races 3 – 5 PM Between 14th street and Orchard Street
Open registration for last minute teams opens at 2 PM
Festivities will start at 3 PM

This year we are planning a few different categories: Non Prophet Races, Arts Community Races, and Bars and Restaurants Races

Objective of Race: From the start line the first member from a team of 4 gets dressed in Dress, Wig, Handbag and Heels must be 2 inches high. Then runs one block to the exchange line, where they pass off the same items to the next team member who in return runs back down the course. The race is complete once all four team members have completed course.
Judges and special guests will include Penny Tration, Truly Scrumptious, Quasi, and Just Joan. Event-goers are invited to continue the revelry by heading over to On Broadway (817 Broadway) for a cookout, or to Below Zero Lounge (1122 Walnut Street) or Shooters (927 Race Street) for after party adult beverages.

Below Zero will also be hosting the races' "Pit Stop," starting at 1pm, where you can get quick service drinks before heading down the street to watch those bitches run.

Calendar Update!

Time for a big ol'queer calendar update! I promise I'll try to cover all the big stuff for you guys! Please note that all images are from the website or the Facebook page of the event listed.

If you haven't heard about Penny's "private" party at Adonis now, clearly you have not been paying attention. Bitch is working her heels down making sure you join her and all five hundred of her closest friends at Annie's (right up the street from Adonis) this Friday at 10:00pm. It's an open bar from 10p-11p, so it is worth it to get their early. You just have to print off this flyer to get in and par-tay! Check out the event invite.

Meet Milk, Cincinnati's queer and queer-friendly summer underground party scene, debuting at Below Zero on May 27th. I had the chance to speak to the organizer this weekend at the Guerrilla Queer Bar party at Little Bit party, and, aside from being gorgeous, he's a smart guy who's dedicated to good music and great dancing. Word is that he's got some pretty cool shit lined up for all of us to party to; it's all about music, kids. He played a sampling, and it sounds like it will totally be worth it Add Milk: Summer Underground.

PrideLove -- Cincinnati's experiment with queer *gasp* dating -- is coming back, this time to BronZ. Fabulous Della R. (who says that she and I will be BFF's, which I'm totally down with), who owns the business, has a great event lined up: Speeddating! Take five minutes to go on quick dates with men you have never met before, leave perhaps with a husband! Add in some fantastic drink specials, and it sounds like it will be yet another successful event. Check out their event invite for May 30th from 6pm-9pm.

The HRC will be hosting its monthly First Friday event, going out to bars that you normally would not see them out.. making new friends and new connections. Next month, the event takes place at Crazy Fox Saloon in Newport at 8pm. Check out the event invite.

Below Zero Lounge will be hosting the Ohio LGBT Democratic Caucus, kicking off Pride on June 12th at 5pm. Cover is $35 and gets you membership into the caucus. Check out the event invite.

I am so excited to mention this event, as it's being hosted by our friends at the Kentucky Equality Federation and Marriage Equality Kentucky. Tickets are a little expensive -- $50-$150 -- but a portion of that goes to our local GLSEN, and the majority of it goes for fighting for marriage equality in the Bluegrass State. Pop Singer Briant Kent and Gay Comedian (comedienne?) Ryan Hill will be performing. Advance purchase is necessary for attendance, and I hear that they are selling like hot cakes! Check out the event, or the Facebook event, for June 20th at 8pm at Adonis, followed by an after party at Yadda Club.

Please note that Equality Ohio is looking for Pride Volunteers for the entire state, and Squealing with Pride here in Cincinnati is also looking for event volunteers! Pride is next month, kids, can you believe it????

Poseidon: An Upside Down Musical

Disappointed that Avenue Q closed in Cincinnati this weekend? I am, too. It was an excellent romp of blasphemous and potty-mouth puppets that you should have seen. Many thanks to the Cincinnati Movie Bears and their fearless leader, Brian, aka @cincycub, for putting our little outing together this weekend that included AveQ and then the most heavenly food at Nicholson's Pub downtown. Followed, of course, by a fabulous evening at the stop) aids fundraiser at Below Zero, where I drank too much but did not make too many PLC's (poor life choices). Thanks be to the goddess, for that.

However, if you missed Avenue Q, do not fret, there is another equally fabulous, tragically campy, utterly laughable musical going on here in the 'Nati that you would be sore to miss -- Poseidon: An Upside Down Musical, as brought to you by Falcon Theatre (636 Monmouth in Newport).

I have only been to the small Falcon Theatre once before -- to see their production of Hamlet (my review here). I enjoy Shakespeare, and it was strong work by a community theatre to put it on and do a decent job of it. Regardless, I was not expecting much from Poseidon. I have worked in community theatres before and, undoubtedly, musicals were the bane of our existence. It's hard to find good singer/actors who will work for free... and there is an endless parade of details that are usually dealt with poorly or overlooked completely. The production of Poseidon has a lot of these problems, but it more than makes up for it with fun and strong cast who never forgot the joke.

Poseidon is based off of the 1970s classic, The Poseidon Adventure, which I have never seen. I have caught parts of the more recent remake on cable TV, but apparently it's about a big boat that capsizes and a daring cast have to escape through the bottom of the ship. The original 1972 movie posters bost: Who will survive -- in one of the greatest escape adventures ever! I have no idea how closely they kept to the storyline, but it doesn't matter as 99% of the jokes stand alone without prior knowledge of what's to happen (at Below Zero last night, the Bears and I compared notes and the play, apparently it sticks pretty close to the story).

There is no real "lead;" rather, each role -- even the minor ones -- has their moments in the sun. There is a central cast  of ten who, more often then not, work together on stage beautifully. Ten people on stage would usually lead to upstaging and distracting action, but not during this performance. Undoubtedly, though, Joe Stollenwerk -- who plays Belle Rosen (Shelly Winters in the 1972 movie) -- stole the show. It's easy to assume that sticking a fat guy in a dress with a hackneyed old Jewish woman accent would be funny without trying, but Stollenwerk played it off brilliantly ... again, never forgetting the joke. Marypat Carlettii as Linda Rogo (Stella Stevens in the original) played her part with brilliance. Again, it would been easy to write off a former hooker turned leacherous drunky wife of a cop, but Carletti plays it on point. (I am dying to work her song about panties into a Kristy performance.) I found myself watching Stollenwerk and Carletti while others were acting because their reactions were, sometimes, funnier than the joke.

Sean Mize as Acres, also, deserves acclaim for his part as the flamboyant waiter desperately trying to get Mike Rogo's (played by David Radtke) shirt off, as does Chuck Knippen (especially in his role as the mildly creepy, doll loving, socially inept Jim in the secondary story of "Poseidon-ites" watching the movie) , Burgess Boyd (for all of her sharp-tongued fierceness), and DeAndre Smith (again, in his role as a cross-dressing Poseidon-ite). And, finally, Donnie McGovern's role as the not-so-sexually confused 11-year-old Robin Shelby had his moments of hilarity.

I just talked up well over half the cast, but that's not to say the remainders were a waste. Every single cast member had amazingly memorable moments, but I simply cannot recount the entire show to you in this posting. They were having fun, and it was obvious and it translated into a rowdy good time for the audience. The cast even adopted an audience member who received a lap dance from Carletti and then, later, was pulled onto stage in a dance number. The poor guy was an instant superstar, but the cast's interactions with him tell us that the Falcon Theatre cares deeply about their audience.

All of the wonderment aside, the show lacked a few key points. Some of the performers were clearly not singers, or they were poorly cast into the wrong singing role. John Langley, for example, had some of the more disappointing solo's, despite a long history of professional performance. I was informed, later, that he was a tenor cast in the role of a bass, which explains why, half the time, you could not hear what he was singing even from my third-row seat. The remaining faults were excusable, though I was disappointed one of the very first songs -- Bachelor Habberdasher -- came off weakly, though the actor, Earl Lehkamp, made up for it later with some well-timed one-liners that will leave you with side pain ("You're my only chance to get laid!"). Even Carletti was a weak singer, though she made up for it with the amount of fun she was clearly having that transferred to the audience. At some point, I made a note in my program: "Is the music played this loudly to cover up the gaps in some actor's abilities?" Meh.

The remaining "stuff" you hear about in reviews -- costumes (decent, correct for the show, nothing spectacular), sets (it's a small theatre, they made do), etc. -- was unremarkable and unspectacular, but it worked because the cast made it work and never let the obvious pitfalls stand in their way, often times playing up the goofs. I am left with the same impression of Falcon that I left Hamlet with: everything else they don't do well is made up for the talent and enthusiasm of their actors.

The musical has already garnered a little bit of buzz -- our little AveQ troupe this weekend was talking about it. I told a handful of people at the bar, and they said they had heard good things about the show. I have a feeling that, by the time the run is over (two more weekends, Fridays and Saturdays only), quite a few people will have enjoyed it, and I make a firm recommendation that you be amongst the people who have seen it. You'll be disappointed if you don't.

Of the $15 it would take to buy a full price ticket -- you will definitely get $13.50 or $14 out of enjoyment from it. (Order tickets here.)

GLSEN Prom Success

Congratulations to the organizers and GLSEN for hosting yet another fantastic evening at the CAC for prom last night. It was amazingly well put together, and I think we all had a great time. The after party at Below Zero -- despite the drama that I inevitably cause while drunk and around cute boys (mostly harmless) -- was fabulous and dead on. I closed down the bar with the ever fabulous Rusty Lockett, Joey Otis, Jill Benavides, Doug Meredith, Cameron Tolle, and our growing crowd of "usual suspects."

Thanks much to Rene Micheo, as well, for his camera and his eye. Check out his webpage for more information about his work, and check out the Facebook album for some of the fantastic pictures he took!

And so concludes one of our biggest, gayest weekends ever. Seriously -- two nights up until 5am and shit to do during the day, all accomplished. SWEET! I wish I could say I want it to go on, but my liver and my checkbook would never thank me.

PrideLove

Meet PrideLove, Cincinnati's LGBT matchmaking party-hosters. From the Facebook page:
Pride Love works to help Cincinnati's GLBT singles meet new people and form lasting relationships. We specialize in creating innovative social events that go beyond the traditional bar scene.
The group is hosting their first event -- a singles auction at Below Zero on the 24th of April! I joked with the organizer -- this fabulous chickadee I met at BZ -- that I would love to purchase a date for the night. She laughed and kindly but firmly informed me, "That's not what we're for, sweetheart... we're for serious relationships."

Oh, right.

The GUPPIES -- Cincinnati's Gay Young Professionals Group, hosted by the ever fabulous (and studly), Steven Martin -- are getting in on the action too... not to mention darling co-blogger Penny Tration!

Anyways. I'm still saying. Check em out!

And don't worry, ladies, they have a Lucky Ladies Speedate the next week!!!

Community Event: SWOON, by PFLAG

Thanks to PFLAG-Cincinnati for the heads up on this one. You'll note it on the Community Events list on your right.

From their press release:
The Cincinnati Chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) is presenting the local band SWOON as a fundraiser for their scholarship program. The program provides scholarships for gay and straight-ally students who strive to make the world a better place for gay and lesbian people through support, education, and advocacy.

SWOON will perform on Saturday March 28th from 7 to 10 pm at Below Zero Lounge, 1122 Walnut Street in Cincinnati, 45202. Tickets are $25 for a single and $45 for couples. Light refreshments will be served. Tickets also entitle everyone to a chance to win one of several prizes. A cash bar will be available, promising an enjoyable evening of great music, food and prizes for a great cause.

Swoon members Liz and David Archer love to share their original music and see their audiences having a blast. The band began in England in 1991 and now includes an American member, Gillian Oakenfull. Both Liz and Gill have sung with MUSE. Don’t miss them!

Tickets can be purchased by sending a check payable to PFLAG Cincinnati, P.O. Box 19634, Cincinnati OH 45219-0634. Queries should be directed to Suzanne at 513-240-1193 or emailed to info@pflagcinci.org.
I'm a recipient of this scholarship -- I would not be in school right now if it weren't for this scholarship (whether that's a good thing or bad thing, well, my circadian rhythms will, one day, reset themselves, right? right? please?). In years past, you can almost look at the winners as a Who's Who of Young Gay Cincinnati. Seriously.

I have no idea who the band is, though, so I can't speak to that, and I can't find them on YouTube, otherwise I'd give you a preview.

But, seriously, PFLAG is one of the few organizations in town that has stuck to their purpose with such wonderful and amazing abandon. I've been to their meetings, and I want to hug everyone who walks into those doors. I remember the first tiem I attended, there was a new set of parents there... I don't know why they stuck with me, except I remember them hanging around and generally looking uncomfortable, but not being left alone for all the other parents who took the opportunity to introduce themselves.

I may actually attend this event :-). I know I responded on Facebook in the positive.

Besides, you cannot be in this city and not know the amazing Lynne Lefebvre. I mean, spunky British lady... seriously. I would marry her son, whom I've never met, just to have her as my mother-in-law.

If I'm great...

...it's because these people are in my life.

In my head, I imagine that all of you are wondering: well, Mr. Barry, if you're VD was so great, what made it so great? I'm glad you asked, because I'll be happy to tell you.

I woke up at 3am, because that's how I roll, to a phone call from a boy I met at the bar two weeks ago who proceeded to wonder, alloud, just how long ago we had met at Shooter's. Once he figured out who I was, and I figured out who he was, the conversation ended shortly with him saying, "Well, I'm going to bed," and a vague promise to respond if I texted him later with plans. Weird.

...to be followed by someone saying they were attracted to me online. Also weird. (I am also attracted to them, but I wonder if it will go anywhere, but there are other issues, no doubt.)

Blah. Made it through the day going stir crazy in my house, when study buddy Michelle picks me up for lunch and, well, studying. We had a ball, I learned everything possible about diabetes, and we moved on with our life. She put up with my insanity for a little while, and that's a great kindness on her part because I think I was mild cabin fevered.

I was all too itchy to leave again once I got home, got on the way early bus to head up to the reopening of Take the Cake, which I had promised @geekjames I would make an appearance at, and where I would be meeting darling @jddalton (I swear, stop changing your twitter name). Take the Cake was fabulous, and the party was hopping. Lots of great Northside folks, lots of amazing food laid out, lots of tasty treats for everyone. After I made a complete ass out of myself and introduced myself to @geekjames' partner (the actual baker), whom I thought was my twitter buddy, I settled in which some fabulous chocolates and deserts. I also learned that I'm not a big fan of dates. That's neither here nor there.

Definitely worth stopping in -- apparently they'll be changing their menu on a daily basis. Very chic. And it's a bakery! C'mon!

Note: This is why I don't do restaurant reviews.

Then we went onto New Stage Collective...

Maybe I wasn't smart enough to get Dead City, but it says something when I start dozing off midway through. It is the play you expect to see at an avant garde theatre -- brilliantly acted and completely unreadable. Not a big fan of esoteric art, really, as I think there should be something there to be understood for everyone. Despite the amazing work of the actors and actually really amazing blocking -- and a few times when it was funny -- it was theatre for the few, not theatre for the masses.

I don't know, maybe it's more in your taste than mine. Tom told me You'll get it later. Well, I could also get an STD later, but that doesn't mean I'm going to spend the time.

Wow, that was a "bad review." I feel really guilty.

Then @jddalton and I headed down to Below Zero for some cocktails, where our crew grew from him, me, and Queen City Survey, to just him and me, then to himmeandAndrew, then himmeAndrewandAmyandhusband, then himmeAndrewAmyhusbandandVivica (you know how it goes). We had a blast. I even invited the boy who had called me at 3am to join us, but then sat off by himself on the pretense that "I don't want to intrude." Whatever. Off the list of interesting people, on the list of creepy people. We even tried to convince Julie and Katy out, but they were tucked in for their Valentine's Day.

So by the time we reached Shooter's, we were all quite tipsy (BZ was clearing out).

Me and Jeffery!

Blogger photo -- god I'm a nerd

...at Shooter's I met a cute boy who loves Jesus -- we all have our faults :-) j/k -- who had informed me that darling Joe Penno has left even the Pride Committee (what happened to him?).

I got home somehow, but not after a quick rendez-vous with the cute boy from Shooter's.

And I tucked into bed, where I woke up the next morning in the same clothes I went out the night before.

Overall, the best Valentine's Day to date.

Thanks :-). You guys made it awesome.

Valentine's Day Plan

Jeffery and I have some hot hot hot plans for Valentine's Day, despite both of us being single these days.

First of all, we're going to this fabulous opening of Take the Cake (the newest fabulous restaurant and bakery at 4035 Northside thanks to James H-J). Doesn't this just sound delicious?
A REMINDER! Please mark your calendars to join us for our gala GRAND OPENING PARTY on Saturday, February 14th, from 6-10 PM. ALL ARE WELCOME!

You truly haven't lived until you've seen a bakery case rolling down Hamilton Avenue!

Come to the unveiling! Saturday night's menu is being planned - beef tenderloin and Vietnamese hoagies are just part of the feast. Work continues and is almost finished in the new space - new equipment is arriving, art is being hung, furniture is getting put in place, the sound system is installed, wifi is getting turned on, and we are getting more excited by the minute for our move to 4035 Hamilton Avenue in Northside! You haven't lived until you've seen a bakery case rolling down Hamilton Avenue!

We were already sweet, now we're sweet and more! Along with our wonderful sweets for which we've always been known, in the new cafe, our menu is expanding to include an array of savories. We'd love to see you for breakfast or lunch, or a cupcake and a cuppa joe!

And don't, of course, forget to join their facebook page.

And then we are going to go put in some "hard labor" to enjoy the theatrical stylings of New Stage Collective's Dead City, which was recently reviewed by the Enquirer as being amazing (though I can't find the review I just read yesterday).

Oh, and then, of course, drinkie-poos at Below Zero just around the corner. (Which, of course, you are allowed to join us at. Come get your picture taken with QueerCincinnati.com I only sign autographs for people who buy me a drink.)

You know, Valentine's Day may suck, but I am so looking forward to this year's! What are you doing?

Two things you may note from this post: 1) I have access again :-). 2) I don't have the access enough to check the responses to this week's QUESTION FOR FRIDAY. So, for now, you'll have to do without... until tonight, at least, when I get all tucked in for jammies Friday at casa de QueerCincinnati.

Oh, and in case you already haven't, please donate to me for the Heart Mini-Marathon and Walk. It's going to the American Heart Association, so the money's going to a good place, and I want to rock out my team (of which you'll notice I'm number 2 in my team in fundraising -- I want to be number 1, be-otches!!!!)

OTRTweetUp

Our ladies (Kate the Great, RedKatBlonde, Julie, and Amy) with George from Metronation!

Many thanks to Kate the Great and AmyInOhio and the hundres of others who posted (and reposted and reposted...) the information about the #OTRTweetUp last night... It was a blast!!! Went to Lavomatic with everyone  afterwards for some food -- first time there! It wasn't bad...

Oh, ended up at the triple thread of homosexuality -- BronZ, Bullie's, and Serpent -- afterwards. I'm going to say this: I think I'm through with drunken college boys.

I didn't say I was, I just think  I am. In short, shoulda gone with the ladies to the Fashion Show at Twist.

PS If you added me on Twitter, I have probably added you on my blogroll. Just check it out! :-)

CINCY GAY SCENE: July 3rd at Below Zero

We had a great night on July 3rd at Below Zero.

Blah blah. I retract every former negative statement I had about the bar; Nigel knows how to put together an excellent club. We had a good time. Blah blah. Thank you Nigel for an excellent night. :-) (I also realized just how much I like taking pictures of JB -- HA!)

We had our car broken into at Below Zero's parking lot -- please remember to lock your doors, folks -- the only thing missing, sadly, ended up being my music player. And everyone knows how sad that makes me. No more George Michael on the bus in the morning. Wah-wah.

Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Police Department was most excellent in solving the problem quickly and efficiently and treated us really, really well.

Two lessons:
1) Thieves generally grab everything, then dump the stuff with "no value" in a bin or dumpster nearby. (Although I think HRC boy's list of like every gay person in the city and the entire HRC staff is valuable... prob not to them though.)

2) If you are stealing stuff, stash it. Do not, do not play with it in the street while setting off fireworks. Duh.

Thank you, Cincinnati Police Department; thank you, Nigel and Cable Joe.

And then we had some fabulous Lucy Blue Pizza. I mean, FABULOUS.

OHIO/CINNKY: Jerry Springer the Opera -- ONE WEEK

I have like 100 things to post, including my 7 busses in 24 hours story, but I'm tired from taking 7 busses in 24 hours. I'm going to nap, but I wanted to post this vid of the run through of New Stage Collectives Jerry Springer: The Opera. . . OPENS IN ONE WEEK!!

Just a reminder... Per Penny Tration, here are the opening night plans (which I will not be a part of, but you may want to be ... I'll be there Friday night ushering.) After the show, there is an after-party for the cast and watchers at Below Zero Lounge. It should be a fabulous night, kids!!!

And don't forget to check out New Stage Collective's website for ticket purchasing information.

CINCY GAY SCENE: Drag Races -- WENT WELL

I made it down to the Cincinnati Drag Races. I jokingly said that we ended up at the "back of the bus," as the event was tagged onto Second Sunday on Main. On one hand, it brought a lot of people to the event. On the other, the gays were hidden at the very end.

But that's ok, we're fabulous and know how to party all our own.

It was fun and a great event. STOP AIDS won the Drag Race, while Dykes-R-Us won the "Dykes on Trikes" competition. It was SCORCHING. but a LOT of people came. My little group -- I attached myself to the winners, naturally -- ended up at Boswell's Alley (Whitney Sierra-Devine's bar), but most of the crowd ended up at Below Zero which was PACKED. We just wanted to drink, but not wait in line.

But, our day in pictures... (PS I really hate putting pictures on Blogger. I can't seem to effectively organized them.)

PS VERY SLOWLY UPLOADING VIDEOS FROM YESTERDAY TO YOUTUBE. YEA!
