I first got involved in blogging (on livejournal) to connect with some friends from a Buffy the Vampire Slayer discussion board in a fanfic project (http://www.atpobtvs.com/existentialscoobies/fictionary/season_6/).
Later, after I quit full time journalism in August 2005, blogging gave me an outlet to continue my editorializing about issues important to me and keep in touch with friends across the country.
I lived in NYC and my family is spread all over the country. I decided to start a website with all kinds of photos I'd taken - that turned in to a Blog. For some reason "blog" as a word bothers me - so I called it my "web-diary" for years.
So, like everything else - It's my mom's fault! (wink)

I mostly wanted a hobby. I also thought I could tell a story about a same-sex couple's journey through the adoption process in a midwest state.
