Just another Pride celebration?


Look very closely at where the schedule is coming from. :-)

Congratulations, Shanghai, for hosting the first every LGBTQ Pride in mainland China!!!! Daring, too, this close to the 20th anniversary of Tiananmen Square. Everything's private, no parade... just a lot of great LGBTQ events.

Definitely a good start! The wikipedia entry on homosexuality in China is fascinating reading for the contrast it provides with the West. There's very little "moral" underpinnings for their homophobia, with the much more classical attitude of duty to one's family driving most of the anti-gay feeling .
