Michael Steele Elected RNC Chairperson

Not to make this about race or anything, but they kinda had to, didn't they?

Ewww. That sounded awful coming out.

Regardless, congratulations Chairperson Steele (former Lt. Gov. of Maryland)!!!! Actually, this is a great choice. He's a rising star in the GOP and may actually have the know-how to remake the party. And from Maryland ... a more blue state ... I haven't done much research, but I don't think he's rampantly anti-gay. (Oh damn, damn, damn)

Sigh, it is to dream.

I applaud the RNC for making an effort to build diversity in their party, but true outreach would involve promoting policies that have a positive impact on the poor and disenfranchised.

Micheal Steele is a (supposedly) aModerate Conservative but leans heavily Right on on most Republican Issues and against G&L Issues.

Strongly Opposes:
Abortion is a woman's right

Strongly Opposes:
Sexual orientation protected by civil rights laws

Opposes
More federal funding for health coverage

Strongly Favors
Privatize Social Security

Strongly Favors
Absolute right to gun ownership

Strongly Favors
Decrease overall taxation of the wealthy

Opposes
The Patriot Act harms civil liberties

I personally don't appluad the RNC on this pick. It reeks of "hey look! We're kewl we put a black guy in charge! Maybe we aren't so bad after all."
